EXHIBITION OPENING: ‘THE SHOW’ AND ‘COWGIRLS ARE FOREVER’
Next date: Saturday, 06 December 2025 | 02:00 PM
to 04:00 PM
Join us at The Condensery to celebrate our upcoming exhibitions, The Show and Cowgirls Are Forever!
The Show is an exhibition of artworks by local artists from the Somerset region that capture the agricultural shows held in the region’s larger townships of Lowood, Esk, Toogoolawah and Kilcoy. The artists have been tasked with creatively documenting each of the shows, with the exhibition prompting us as viewers to reflect upon our personal associations with local shows, the role of nostalgia in the preservation of traditional values, and possible futures for regional community building.
Cowgirls Are Forever is a new body of work by artist Merinda Davies that considers non-agricultural plants that might be forgotten by technological pollinating solutions. The exhibition speculates a future in which the “cowgirl” serves as a multi-species support and becomes a human pollinator. In Merinda Davies’ work, the cowgirl is a subcontractor for the ‘Bureau of Mutualisms’, working with flowers to support their reproduction, while pollinators such as bees, moths, and butterflies are repopulated in the Bureau of Mutualisms laboratory.
Join us to celebrate the artists involved. Registrations are appreciated for catering purposes.
COWGIRLS ARE FOREVER IS PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY CITY OF GOLD COAST. THE ARTS DEVELOPMENT FUND IS A CITY OF GOLD COAST COUNCIL FUND THAT SUPPORTS THE GOLD COAST’S CREATIVE COMMUNITY BY FOSTERING PROFESSIONAL PATHWAYS AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, CONTRIBUTING TO THE CITY’S VIBRANT LIFESTYLE.
