The show goes on is an experimental stop-motion animation that centers on The Creature, a performer sculpted from bronze. Both as an autistic person and young artist, Ashton Bernhardt contemplates the role performance plays in communication and personal expression.

Throughout its musical-recital-inspired performance, The Creature, like its animator, must work with and against physical limitations such as the weight and instability of its bronze body, and the copper joints that break with use in order to complete its recital. The Creature must react, adapt, and make peace with its mistakes as it fights to express itself before its time on stage is up.
