'The wider earth' exhibition by Dead Puppet Society

Welcome to The Wider Earth by Dead Puppet Society, written by David Morton, a theatrical reimagining of Charles Darwin’s research as he embarks on the journey that changed scientific understanding forever. This exhibition presents, for the first time, puppets from the internationally acclaimed production at The Condensery, offering audiences the opportunity to encounter these creations up close.

The creatures featured in the exhibition are informed by the species Darwin documented during his voyage aboard the HMS Beagle. Each puppet is developed through detailed research into animal physiology, movement, and behaviour, reflecting the observational practices that shaped Darwin’s evolving scientific thinking.

Visitors will gain unique insight into the artistry behind Dead Puppet Society’s creative process and an up-close look at the fabrication techniques that combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary technology.
