Expression of Interest - Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee

Somerset Regional Council is seeking expressions of interest for three committee members for its Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee (ACHAC).

The ACHAC assists Council to improve coordination of arts and cultural networks and to provide advice on the region’s arts, culture and heritage priorities. The committee also assesses Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grant applications and recommends applicants for funding.

Committee Vacancies

One × community member with knowledge and experience in any of the following areas: theatre, performance, literature, festivals, production or music.

Two × industry representatives located in South East Queensland from service providers/agencies or organisations who have expertise and experience in the provision of arts, culture and heritage including but not limited to: public art, arts facilities, programming, arts education, event management, placemaking, cultural tourism, arts marketing, community engagement.

Submissions for membership will be assessed alongside the following selection criteria:

  • Community position – Live, work or study in Somerset, or regularly participate in Somerset Arts and Cultural activities.
  • Community position – Demonstrate an interest and knowledge of arts and cultural activities within the Somerset region including services, events, venues, programs, projects and initiatives offered through Council, community and local businesses.
  • Industry position – Offer insight into the social, cultural, environmental and economic factors shaping arts and cultural practice in regional communities, and demonstrate awareness of broader regional, state and national trends, policy settings and sector priorities that influence effective arts, culture and heritage service delivery.

Members will be appointed on a voluntary basis and will be required to attend up to four meetings per year.

To nominate for a position on the ACHAC, please submit an expression of interest via a cover letter or email noting what qualities you would bring to the ACHAC, along with a copy of your CV.
