Planning

Our planners and administration staff provide advice and assistance with development and land use planning enquiries. We can assist with a large range of queries ranging from general zoning enquiries to how to lodge a development application.

As well as dealing with the assessment of development applications, our planners undertake inspections and field work to ensure existing land uses comply with Council’s approvals and the scheme provisions.

The planning section involves both control of existing and new development and ‘strategic planning’. Planning is a dynamic process that is constantly evolving in response to changes within the community.

The Somerset Region Planning Scheme guides and controls development within the region.

SOUTH EAST QLD REGIONAL PLAN (SEQRP)

Available on the State Government ePlanning Portal

Statutory public consultation is now open on the draft ShapingSEQ 2023

South East Queensland (SEQ) is growing fast. An extra 2.2 million people are expected to call SEQ home by 2046 and that means more services, jobs and a stronger economy.

The Queensland Government is reviewing the South East Queensland Regional Plan (also known as ShapingSEQ), to make sure we have enough homes, while protecting the lifestyle we love. This helps all South East Queenslanders choose the kind of home that’s right for them, in a place they want to live.

The draft ShapingSEQ Update is now open for consultation. Have your say and help shape the plan for your future. The draft ShapingSEQ can be found at the following link:
