- Advocates are available to support carers in caring for a person with impaired decision making capacity. Can assist with issues prior to or within the Queensland Civil and Administrative tribunal (QCAT). Provide advice on applications for the appointment or review of guardian and/or administrator. Assist with the preparation of applications for the appointment or review of a guardian and/or administrator. Provide advice on the completion and use of enduring documents. Advocating/representing you before QCAT. Supporting you in negotiating and working with the office of the Public Guardian and the Public Trustee of Queensland. Assisting and supporting you in working with service providers. The role of an advocate is to be on your side and safeguard your role as a family carer. Informed consent and written permission is sought before any work is commenced.
