Environmental Health

Environmental health is the branch of public health that is concerned with all aspects of the natural and built environment that may affect human health and/or the environment.


Nuisance and Pollution

Council is responsible for regulating environmental nuisance and minor environmental pollution relating to air, water, land and noise. Examples of these are odour nuisance, noise nuisance, smoke nuisance, littering and illegal dumping and water pollution.


Public Health

Public health covers impacts and risks to human health that can be managed or prevented such as; mosquito breeding, harbourage of rats and mice, asbestos, water supply quality and school based vaccination clinics.


Licences and Permits

Council is responsible for regulating various activities such as fixed, mobile and temporary food businesses, environmentally relevant activities, drinking water carriers, personal appearance services, roadside vending.
