Somerset Council Meeting

The first ordinary council meeting and statutory meeting for the new Somerset Regional Council elected member team will be held in Esk on Wednesday, 10 April.

The meeting will start at 9am and be held in the Simeon Lord Room at the Esk Library.

The Deputy Mayor will be appointed at the statutory meeting and councillors will be appointed to various committees.

Community members are welcome to attend meetings and are encouraged to provide at least 24 hours’ notice of attendance via email to mail@somerset.qld.gov.au or by phoning council on 5424 4000.

Audio from Council meetings are streamed live onto Council’s corporate facebook page, increasing the opportunity for the public to be informed of decision making. 

 

Make It Markets at regional art gallery

Somerset art creatives are being encouraged to display their wares at the inaugural Made it Market to be held at The Condensery art gallery in Toogoolawah.

The markets will be held on 15 June and will be a fusion of creativity and craftsmanship.

Delivered in partnership with BrisStyle and Somerset Regional Council, the markets will be held the same weekend as the award winning Esk Garden Fair.

Free Somerset Producer Business Worshop

Somerset producers are invited to expand their knowledge with a free workshop exploring financial planning and legalities to future proof their operations.

The workshop, organised by Somerset Regional Council, will be held at the Somerset Civic Centre in Esk on Tuesday, 16 April over four hours starting at 10am and will explore areas that every business needs to thrive.

A range of experienced advisers in financial planning, counselling and farm business resilience will be at the workshop to address key issues and provide practical examples.”

A QRIDA adviser and a Financial Counsellor will explain how to access support and information required to apply for a loan or a grant.

The workshop is brought to residents by Somerset Regional Council with assistance provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DFRA).

Tickets on sale for annual fun run

Tickets are now on sale for the annual Somerset Rail Trail Classic, the region’s premier fun run.

The event, brought to the community by Somerset Regional Council, will be held on Sunday, 21 July.

Course options include a 3km run/walk from Vernor to Fernvale, an 8km run/walk from Lowood to Fernvale and a 44km bike ride from Esk to Fernvale.

Free DogFest coming to Somerset

Somerset Regional Council, in conjunction with Griffith University, will be hosting a paw-some line up of dog training workshops, demonstrations, dog-friendly stalls, food trucks and live entertainment when DogFest comes to Fernvale next month.

DogFest is a free community event being held at Fernvale’s Memorial Park on Saturday, 13 April from 8am to 1pm.

The event is open to all dog owners and dog lovers across the region.
